Bushcraft Courses
Join us at our stunning oak canopied private woodland set within the Harewood Estate of West Yorkshire. Our canopied basecamp and a wood fire ensure our clients keep dry and the kettle is always boiling so bring along your favourite brew.
All of our sessions are run with a maximum of 10 people, that way we can maintain a low presence in the forest in order to experience Nature up close. The small group sizes also ensure a high level of interaction with the instructor, we'll get plenty of one to one tuition through the workshops to develop your skills at your own pace.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, we're very open and there's no obligations.
Seasonal Forager - Half Day Tour
Seasonal Forager - Half Day Tour
A wonderful collaboration with the ever excellent Adam Logan from A.Woodsman
Come and join us on this leisurely stroll and discover the wealth of wild resources that surround you in woodland, field, and moor!
Whether you are looking to boost your plant identification skills, discover wild food on your doorstep or simply enjoy a guided walk with passionate plant enthusiasts we are convinced you will leave this half day activity with a new perspective on just how fascinating and useful common plants and trees can be.
With a combined experience of over three decades your instructors will lead you around a circular route taking in the best of what the local woods has to offer as we roll into the Autumn. We will also be making good use of the Howl Bushcraft base camp for a hot brew break with refreshments half way through our tour.
During this 3.5 hour activity you will:
Learn to identify edible, medicinal and bushcraft-survival utility plants, trees, and fungi.
Understand the legalities of what you can and cannot do in the UK when foraging for wild food.
Leave with a solid understanding of the important safety aspects relating to foraging.
Learn about toxic plants and how to identify some of our most deadly species.
Have the opportunity to take notes, photos and ask questions about each plant we discuss.
See readymade and even taste examples of wild food.
Understand how plants contribute to wilderness survival crafts such as bow making, cordage production, and hide tanning.
A degree of physical fitness is required as we will be out in whatever the weather throws at us and on our feet for almost the entire time. The course is suitable for over 18’s but please get in touch if you feel any youngsters would be interested and benefit from the experience (must be with parent/ guardian).
You will need to dress for the weather and we recommend sturdy boots and a few snacks to keep you going.
We look forward to seeing you out in the woods!
