At Howl we specialise in journeying skills, the Bushcraft we practice and teach is that of the traveler. There is a wonderful simplicity that comes from taking a trip in the outdoors, a pragmatism gleaned from necessity. We draw from this experience in the field to teach a set of skills and knowledge based in expedience and realism, skills that actually get used while outdoors. We provide an insight into the Natural world, opening up a vast array of natural resources and knowledge to help you travel with less reliance on the contents of your rucksack: it’s what you carry in your mind that matters.

We teach these practical skills in a friendly and open way, our hope being to enable you to make your adventures into the Great Outdoors memorable and enjoyable. We'll help you cultivate a positive attitude, a confidence in yourself, and a connection with the natural world through which you travel.

We promote the utmost respect for the environment, the ability to pass unnoticed through the woods brings with it a deeper understanding of the wilderness, and our part in it. It is this philosophy which forms the very core of our work.

REVIEWS:

  • I had a great day with Jamie Dakota from Howl Bushcraft learning how to erect a Tarp and Hammock and carve a spoon. Jamie was very professional in the way he delivered the course. I found it easy to learn from Jamie and felt very comfortable in the way he explained things to me, I soon picked it up! He was very patient and took time to make sure I had understood what he was teaching. The course was awesome, an experience to remember and I booked to go on another course with Jamie, a walk through woodland at night time which was really exciting and I learnt loads again. I will always go back to Howl Bushcraft because I have been with other very well known bushcraft training schools and they didn’t have the same quality of training I received with Howl Bushcraft. I will always go back to Jamie for a course on Bushcraft because from my experience I have found him very professional and he has a real wealth of knowledge on the subject.

Kind regards Phil.

  • Had another brilliant day with Jamie Dakota of Howl Bushcraft. And am so pleased that I actually managed to come away with something resembling an actual spoon! At every session I grow in confidence, learn a bit more, get a bit better & Jamie is kind, patient, positive, knowledgeable & gives me small tips that make a big difference.
